Configuring Newsfeed Properties

Once you have created a newsfeed, you can set additional properties. For example, you can configure different newsgroups in your newsfeed.

Getting to the Newsfeed property pages

  1. In the Administrator window, choose a site, and then choose Connections.
  2. Double-click your newsfeed.

General Properties

Use the General property page to enable the selected newsfeed, specify a display name for the newsfeed, and view the directory name.

  1. In the Administrator window, choose a site, and then choose Connections.
  2. Double-click your newsfeed.
  3. Select the General tab.

Defining a Display Name

Use the General property page to define the newsfeed display name.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Type a display name.

Option Description
Display Name A maximum of 256 alphanumeric characters, which can include spaces and special characters.
Directory Name A name defined during installation that cannot be changed.

Enabling a Newsfeed

Use the General property page to enable the selected newsfeed.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Select the Enable newsfeed check box to enable the selected newsfeed to send or receive newsgroup items.

Assigning an Administrator's Mailbox

Use the General property page to assign an administrator's mailbox. The owner of the mailbox is the administrator who can add and remove newsgroup public folders.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Choose Change, and then select the mailbox of the user who will administer the newsgroup public folders.
