You can relocate the connector responsible for directory synchronization from one Microsoft Exchange Server site to another. For example, you can centralize cc:Mail message traffic in a single Microsoft Exchange Server site for handling cc:Mail message throughput. This can require relocating the existing connector to a new Microsoft Exchange Server.
Relocating an existing connector from one Microsoft Exchange Server computer to another does not require restarting the Microsoft Exchange Server computer running the connector. However, the Microsoft Exchange Connector Service must be stopped during the time it takes to move the connector.
