Dynamic RAS Connector

The Dynamic RAS Connector can be used to connect two sites. This asynchronous connection uses the RAS functionality provided with Microsoft Windows NT Server. The Site Connector communicates using RPC over IPX/SPX or TCP/IP, provided they are installed correctly and configured in Windows NT. It is important that no other LAN connection exist between the two computers.

Before using a RAS connection, you need the following:

• RAS network software installed and configured on the Microsoft Exchange Server computer.
• The service account or a Windows NT account with Send As and Mailbox Owner (User role) permissions for the Servers or Configuration containers in the remote site.
• The name to use for the MTA transport stack. The default is RAS on servername.
• The name of the remote server.
• The phone book entry for the remote server including the name of the server and the phone number.
• The name you want to use for the Dynamic RAS Connector.

The following procedures are used to install and configure the Dynamic RAS Connector.

• Install the RAS MTA transport stack.
• Install and configure the Dynamic RAS Connector.
