Linking Two Chat Servers

Complete the following steps to link two chat servers.

To link two chat servers

From the Chat Service Manager utility, select a chat server under Microsoft Exchange Chat Service in the left pane.
Select Portals in the left pane.
From the Action menu, choose New, and then choose Create portal.
In the General property sheet, type the portal name and the IP address, port, and server ID number of the server you are establishing a connection to. If you do not know the server's IP address, choose IP Look-up, type the server's Domain Name System (DNS) host name, and then choose OK.
If you want the currently selected server to initiate the connection between the two servers, select the Uplink to server check box, and then choose OK.
Repeat steps 1 through 5 on the other server.

Important Be sure you select Uplink to server on only one of the two servers. Only one server can initiate the uplink.
Restart Chat Service on both servers.
