Published Public Folders

Folder shortcuts are links to the Microsoft Exchange Server published public folders. Use the Folder Shortcuts property page to define the list of public folders that anonymous users see when they access the Microsoft Exchange Server computer from the Internet.

Getting to the Folder Shortcuts property page

  1. In the Administrator window, choose a site, and then choose Protocols.
  2. Double-click HTTP (Web) Site Settings.
  3. Select the Folder Shortcuts tab.

Working with Public Folder Shortcuts

Public folder shortcuts are displayed to anonymous users logging on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer from the Internet. Use the Folder Shortcuts property page to select a public folder or set of public folders that you want to create shortcuts to, view details of a folder, or remove a folder.

  1. Select the Folder Shortcuts tab.
  2. Choose an option.

Option Description
New Displays a list of all public folders. When you select a public folder, a shortcut is automatically created and appears in the Public folder shortcuts box.
Properties Displays the properties for the selected public folder.
Remove Removes the selected public folder from the Public folder shortcuts box.

Setting Public Folder Anonymous Permissions

Published public folders must have at least Read permission granted to Anonymous. This is set in the Permissions property page of the specified folder.

  1. Select the Folder Shortcuts tab.
  2. Select the public folder shortcut you created, and then choose Properties.
  3. Choose Client Permissions.
  4. In the box at the top of the Client Permissions dialog box, select Anonymous, and change its role and capabilities to the appropriate level of access. If you want to publish all subfolders of this folder for anonymous access, select the Propagate these properties to all subfolders check box.
  5. Choose OK.
