General Properties

Use the General property page to define the display name, view the directory name, enable the HTTP protocol, and grant anonymous users access to published public folders and the global address list.

Getting to the General property page

  1. In the Administrator window, choose a site, and then choose Protocols.
  2. Double-click HTTP (Web) Site Settings.
  3. Select the General tab.

Defining the Display Name

Use the General property page to define the display name for the HTTP (Web) Site Settings object. The display name is HTTP (Web) Site Settings in the Administrator window.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Type a display name.

Option Description
Display name Type a maximum of 256 alphanumeric characters, which can include spaces and special characters. The default is HTTP (Web) Site Settings.
Directory name The name is defined at installation and cannot be changed.

Enabling HTTP

You can use the Protocols property page to enable HTTP for individual mailboxes and custom recipients.

  1. Select the Protocols tab.
  2. Select HTTP (Web) and choose Settings.
  3. Select the Enable HTTP for this recipient check box.

Enabling Web Browser Access

Use the General property page to enable users to connect to Microsoft Exchange Server with Internet browser software. This setting enables HTTP for the site. It is enabled by default.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Select or clear the Enable protocol check box to enable users to connect to Microsoft Exchange Server using an Internet browser.

Setting Anonymous Access

Use the General property page to specify whether anonymous users can access published public folders and browse the organization's global address list.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Under Anonymous access, select or clear one or both options.

Option Description
Allow anonymous users to access
the anonymous public folders
Select to give anonymous users access to public folders published on the Internet.
Allow anonymous users to browse
the global address list
Select to give anonymous users the ability to browse the global address list published on the Internet.

Note   You must also set anonymous permissions on any public folder shortcut that you want to make available to anonymous users.
