General Properties

Use the General property page to specify a display name for the newsfeed, view the directory name, and enable NNTP on your Microsoft Exchange Server computer.

Getting to the General property page

  1. In the Administrator window, choose a site or server, and then choose Protocols.
  2. Double-click NNTP (News) Site Defaults for the site, or NNTP (News) Settings for the server.
  3. Select the General tab.

Defining a Display Name

Use the General property page to define the NNTP display name.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Type a display name.

Option Description
Display name A maximum of 256 alphanumeric characters, which can include spaces and special characters.
Directory name A name defined during installation that cannot be changed.

Enabling NNTP for the Site

Use the General property page on the NNTP site object to enable NNTP for all servers in the site, or to enable NNTP clients to access newsgroup public folders.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Select Enable protocol.

Enabling Client Access for the Site

Use the General property page on the NNTP site object to enable NNTP clients to use newsgroup public folders in the site.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Select Enable client access.

Using the Site Defaults

Use the General property page on the NNTP server object to use the default values from the NNTP site object.

Note   This option is available only for NNTP properties in the server container.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Select or clear the Use site defaults for all properties check box.
