Typical Configuration Scenarios
You have a variety of options for setting up the Internet News Service. The following are guidelines for configuring and using the Internet News Service in different scenarios.
Scenario 1
Following are the tasks you must complete using the Newsfeed Configuration Wizard if you want to receive a push newsfeed from your newsfeed provider.
- Configure the Internet News Service to push outbound newsfeeds, and accept inbound push newsfeeds.
Note To configure an inbound and outbound newsfeed, configure one bi-directional newsfeed. Problems can occur if you configure separate inbound and outbound feeds.
- Download or import the active file from your newsfeed provider, and create newsgroups.
- Select which public folders you want to push outbound to the newsfeed provider, or specify which public folders will accept the push feed from the newsfeed provider.
Scenario 2
Following are the tasks you must complete using the Newsfeed Configuration Wizard if you want to pull newsgroups from a newsfeed provider.
- Download or import the active file from your newsfeed provider.
- Specify which newsgroups you want to pull. If the newsgroup public folders have not been created, the Internet News Service creates them.
- Select which public folders you want to push outbound to the newsfeed provider, or specify which public folders will accept the push feed from the newsfeed provider.
Scenario 3
Following are the tasks you must complete using the Newsfeed Configuration Wizard if you want to set up a push feed to send to another company.
- Configure the Internet News Service to push outbound newsfeeds, and accept inbound push newsfeeds.
- Select which public folders you want to push outbound to the newsfeed provider, or specify which public folders will accept the push feed from the newsfeed provider.
