General Properties

Use the General property page to set the basic properties for the Microsoft Mail Connector. You can set limits for message size transfer between Microsoft Exchange Server and MS Mail. You can also enter an administrative note as well as determine the installation and last modification date for the Microsoft Mail Connector.

Getting to the General property page

  1. In the Administrator window, choose the site where the Microsoft Mail Connector is installed, and choose Connections.
  2. Double-click MS Mail Connector.
  3. Select the General tab.

Defining the Computer Name

You can view the Microsoft Exchange Server computer name in the General property page. However, you cannot modify the computer name from this page. To change the computer name, you must open Control Panel and double-click the Network icon.

For information on changing your computer name, see your Windows NT Server documentation.

Specifying Message Size Limits

You can specify a size limit for messages passed through the connector. When you define a message limit, it is applied to both MS Mail (PC) and MS Mail (AppleTalk) systems. Setting a maximum message size can reduce the amount of mail traffic across your network.

  1. Select the General tab.
  2. Under Message size, specify a limit.

Option Description
No limit Messages of all sizes transferred. This is the default.
Maximum (K) Maximum message size (1 to 9999999 kilobytes) to be transferred.
