The Connector for cc:Mail does not fully support object linking between dissimilar applications. When an object, such as an image created in a graphics application, is linked to another document, such as a word processor document, the document contains only a reference to the object. When an object is embedded in a document, the document contains a copy of the object.
The following table describes how objects are sent.
| Object | Connector management | Object viewed by client |
|---|---|---|
| Embedded object in a Microsoft Exchange message body. | Embedded object is forwarded to the cc:Mail post office. | The embedded object appears in the cc:Mail attachment entitled "OLE Object." The object can be viewed using the viewers available from the cc:Mail 6.0 client or saved and opened in the application that created it. |
| Linked object in a Microsoft Exchange message body. | Linked object is not forwarded to the cc:Mail post office. | The object appears in a cc:Mail client message as an attachment entitled "OLE Object." The object cannot be viewed. |
