Testing from a cc:Mail Client

You can test the connector by sending test messages from a cc:Mail client to a Microsoft Exchange Server recipient. This helps to determine if the inbound side of the connection is functioning correctly. Once you have tested the connector from a cc:Mail client, you should also send a test message from a Microsoft Exchange Server recipient to a cc:Mail recipient using an e-mail client. For information on testing the connector from Microsoft Exchange Server, see "Testing from the Microsoft Exchange Server" earlier in this chapter.

Before you send a test message from a cc:Mail client to a Microsoft Exchange Server recipient, you create a recipient address for the mailbox you are sending the test message to. Once the address is created, the recipient appears in your address list. You must know the cc:Mail address for the Microsoft Exchange Server recipient. This information can be found in the Microsoft Exchange Server Administrator program.

Note   Before testing the connection, if directory synchronization has not yet occurred or if directory synchronization will never occur, you must add the Microsoft Exchange Server site as a cc:Mail post office using the cc:Mail Administrator program. If you plan to use directory synchronization after a post office has been created manually, you must delete the post office entry before running directory synchronization. You must also add a test user mailbox that corresponds to a Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox. For information on configuring cc:Mail, see your cc:Mail documentation.

  1. In the cc:Mail client for Windows, compose a new message.
  2. Choose Address.
  3. Under Name, select the mailbox for the Microsoft Exchange Server recipient.
  4. Choose Done.
  5. Send the message.
