Microsoft Exchange Scripting Agent

Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5 includes the Microsoft Exchange Scripting Agent, which enables users to create folders with customized workflow applications by using Microsoft VBScript or Microsoft Jscript(tm). The Scripting Agent runs a script on the Microsoft Exchange Server computer when a specified event occurs in a folder. For example, users can design applications that perform automatic error validation or route purchase requisitions when a new item is posted in a public folder.

The Microsoft Exchange Event Service component detects when an item in a public folder is posted, changed, or deleted and automatically runs an agent. It can also run an agent when a scheduled event occurs in a folder.

For more information about Microsoft Exchange Scripting Agent and the Event Service, see the Active Messaging node in the Microsoft Platform Software Development Kit (SDK).
