Hello to all Challenger drivers !

I am a new member at this message board. This is my ´72 Challenger Rallye. It is an Export Model ( I - Code ), 89.000 Kms, original paint, numbers match..... a real survivor. Are there some other export model owners ? I try to find out, how many they build for export outside US/Canada. Best regards, JJ

How long do you have this car already? I never saw it around... (you're german isn't it?) while I already have seen a lot german mopars. You ever visited any shows in Holland or the german mopar meet this year? I didn't saw your car but maybe next year. Once again you're car looks nice and shiny.

thank you very much.
The color code is HT6, some call it T6. You are right, the car is located in south germany. I will try to go to some shows and meetings next year. I will go to Carlisle, PA.

I have seen pictures of your ´72 340 on this board, it is very nice. Are you from Holland ?

Yes Jens, you're right. From Holland. Talking about a shot under the hood...what's under it, a 340? Maybe see you some time at a show, I Want to take a look at that car.

Hi all,

the original paint looks better on the picture. There are some small scratches and spots, at a closer look. But for a 30 years old paint it is in good condition. The vinyl top is original, too.
The original interior is green, the carpet is original, the small paper stickers under the carpet show: "Westpoint 1972 Pepperell 1667 G F8 Green....."
Rebuild 340 4bbl., rebuild 727, all numbers matching. I will ad some more pictures, soon.

There are no records how many Challengers are build for export outside US/Canada (I-code cars).
Chrysler Historical has no records, too. I believe they build only a few hundred from 70 to 74 for export. How many still exist ? Who knows.

The car came at the end of 1971 to europe directly from Chrysler Co. and was then kept in a heated garage the last 25 years, this helped to keep this condition and there are only 89.000 Kms (~55.000 miles) from sunny weekend driven on the odometer (original !).

There are a few very strange things at the car. This car has Recaro front seats. It is exactly the same vinyl/cloth combination like on the rear seat. It looks original and the Recaros are from 1971 ! Another one is, it is a Radio/Antenna delete car and it has a dealer installed swiss 8-Track AM/FM Radio (oh, I love those 8 Tracks).

Very sharp car Jens. Interesting color combo. What are the differences of the export models from American spec cars? I assume the speedometer is in kilos per hour. What else? More photos please. I will probably never see one of these in life.

There is a blue Chrysler label/sticker on the door post, showing: Vehicle for Export

The front turn-signal lens is clear not orange, there is an orange bulb inside, so it flash orange.

The speedometer is in K.P.H. showing original kilometers/mileage. There are some more Export things on it.

Hi jens, I also had a '72 export in South Africa, which I sold when I moved to the Uk. Same as yours, export label, 2 buildsheets, 68000km.
I am actually trying to buy the car back, as yours it is a survivor with full documentation

Hi Roel,

the export models are very very rare. I believe only a few still exist in original (survivor) condition.

If you know where your Challenger is located and if you have the chance to buy it back, do it fast.

I am trying to locate our ´67 Camaro RS convertible (4-speed, KPH speedo, export model...) we sold in 1976 ! It is a long time ago I know. I heard a few stories from the other owners, but I could not find out yet, if the car still exist. If I have a chance to buy it back, I would do it very fast, even if the car is in very bad condition. When I think back to 1976, I wish I have not sold it.

I have a 71 340 convertible that is an I code car. The car is a basketcase and has been since my dad purchased it about 20 years ago. I was about 13 at the time, and I think I remember the original owner saying that he was in the service stationed in Germany when he ordered the car new. If you come across any export info, I would be very interested.

Jens, they are fantastic! I envisioned some '80's multi colored stripe thing with "Recardo" in bold letters. These look like they were built for it. The worst part of driving the car for me is the actual seat. I have new foam and covers that came from owner number 3, but I now have motivation to put them in. These aren't "factory" but non E body folks would probably never notice. They'd be especially cool in a convertible.

Jeff, these Recaros are from the 70s, it was a dealer installed option, when the car was brand new. There are only the Recaro signs on the small black levers. I am glad it is not the 80s fashion look. The seat, the backrest and the headrest is adjustable. The old foam inside is like new. It is not sagging down, I wonder it is 30 years old. It must be the great "made in Germany" quality from that time. Sitting on those firm seats is very good.

I can tell you my 31 year old foam is dead, and has been for a long time. The only time the seats were close to comfortable was when I had sheep skin covers over them. But the guy I sold it to hated them and trashed them, so when I got it back they weren't there. I can only imagine quality seats with adusters everywhere. Mine just goes up and back, or fold down to get someone in the back like everybody else!

I had dreamed of getting a Challenger hardtop for a daily driver. It would have to have modern seats and a few other upgrades that would make it more road worthy (like more insulation). Your car would look good in any car magazine, and I hope it happens!

And the 'B' in that does not mean built in Europe!

The cars I have seen that I suspect were finished in Europe have a funny VIN with some of the letters missing.
