Using the 1" offset hangers.. what rim size?

Postby boosted » 09 May 2008 14:57

I am installing the 1" offset hanger setup on my challenger and was wondering on the fitments of a 15X10 with 5.5 back space and a 295/50/15 tire. Or could I use a 315? I am planning on running a 26" sprtsman front on 3.5's...

I want a larger tire on the car without cutting up the reare 1/4's. The only passenger i will ever have is the wife so no back seat riders and I really on care about going fast straight..

No S.S springs on my car, just the stockers...

I have this exact same set-up on my car. I had to cut the wheel lips to give enough tyre clearence.

The offset hangers are not 1". They are 3/4"

That was my old home made system.

The main mufflers had exhaust cut-outs built in but even when capped were a little too loud for me with the 3" exhaust.
So I had two 3" in/out "cherry bomb" mufflers made at Custom Chrome in England. They will make them any size you want.

I welded the chrome tips to them and fitted them into the tailpipes.

They took the exhaust note down just enough.

I have a TTI system on order right now though.

So those are 15X10 w/ 5.5 Back space and 295-50-15's? That looks fantastic..

I might go ahead and see if I can get a little more bend out of the hangers once they arrive...

You may be able to bend the hangers a little but you cannot alter the offset on the front spring mounts any.

Have you ordered offset front hangers as well?

You couldn't order offset E-Body front hangers for normal springs when I looked into this years ago. Only offset hangers for Super Stock springs which are shorter in the front section (they are A-body length).

So what i did was modify A-body front hangers so I could use stock length springs on my E-body.

I have my rear pretty high so i fit my Cooper tires that meassures 299mm, exact! If i have people in the back (normally don't) it can scratch a little bit in hard bounces, but normally no problems even with people in the back... The wheels are Convo pro from Centerline. I meassued this very exact before ordering the wheels, and i can say if you do want a low rear end, this set up is impossible to have without cutting the rear axle. then 5,5" backspacing sounds more like it. But have you meassured anything? I have a feeling 5,5" backspace should fit without the shackles, is this possible guys(?) I have a clearence of almost 1" to the shackles if i remember right(?) :p:
