My 73 needs to seat foam in all 3 seats. I can only find seat foam for sale for 70-71, were the seats all the same foam wise? Can i use the foam from a 70-71 setup without problems?

I know it is not your style to give more than one word answers Ted :wink:

but I would love to know what the difference is and why it cannot just be stuffed under the later seat covers.

Surely it is the cover itself that gives the basic shape?

Or is it that there is not enough foam to fill the later seats??

Most of the shape comes from the foam. Anyone know where i can get foam for 73 seats? If not would 70-71 seats bolt in fine without a problem?

I have 73 seats, and found some 70 leather covers for a good price. I didn't buy them for two reasons. 1. My seats dont have the plastic back. 2. the 73 seat foam would not fill the 70 seat. also I've seen pics of both, foam and it seams that a lot of the shape would also come from the foam. It seams that if it didn't, the foam would be too soft to serve it's purpose. If your getting them cheapI might go for it, but I wouldn't pay much because it's a gamble untill you try. I have yet to figure out the seat thing - like is the foam diff for all the diff seat options for one particular year - Like 70. Can a 72 seat be made into a 70 by replacing foam, covers and the wire support???

When I had my 74 seats done, the interior shop made foam to fit. It looks pretty good and rides fine. It would be my recommendation to take your existing seat, with a good replacement seat cover http://www.legendaryautointeriors.com/ to a specialist and let the pro's do the rest.

I found my shop by going to several shows locally and asking where they got their seats done. Took about 6 months to separate the B.S. from the truth. When all was said and done, I ended up at an upholstery shop that specialized in furniture, boats and awnings... But did a great job on the car.
