Roger, I looked at what I wrote and noticed that I've mangled the King's English again. I did not mean only YELLOW Challengers had the "Dodge" on the rear (matching the hood), rather that only 1971 had them. The Chysler Pentastar was on the passenger side fender in back of the front wheel. I noticed Roel's whose car came from South Africa also seemed to be missing that small emblem. Roel's car got a little strange because the Challenger was at the bottom of the front fender. No other emblems on it, with the exception of the triangle thing in the hood. That wasn't on power buldge (R/T style) rather only the flat and Shaker hoods.
My car has the J55 "Undercoating and Hood Pad" option. However, when you put on the Shaker Hood the Hood Pad becomes a moot point. You'll seldom see a restored car put that thick tar stuff back on (at least from what I remember seeing). Also, my car was rust proofed by Ziebart. I believe that is why my car existed in 1979, as compared to the roughly other 5 or 6 cars that I saw between 1975 and 1979 on my search for a Challenger convertible. Most of the others were too far gone to bring back. I'll be on the lookout for another "Dodge" for you. Maybe I can find one and get it to you. I think the reason you don't see them is two fold: They fell off just like mine and sometimes people don't sweat the details. Look at me. Tonight when I was at the gas station I pulled mine out of the glove box while I was filling up to match it where I thought it should go. Just like previous post. But I need to get it on there before I show it!
