Peter`s 74` Challenger

Postby Wojpi » 17 Jun 2005 20:12

Hi Everyone. I just wanted to share with you my happy end of 10 years way to buy my dream car. After all that time finally I managed to :
1. persuade my friend to sell me his car
2. make all teh arrangements, buy it and bring to my garage.

My car is 74 Challenger with 318 engine. There is nothing special about it except of fact that i am the second owner of the car and that the car was standing at leats 15 year in the garage. The car has done 32000 km and has still original paint on it. She has vinyl top very good condition, perfect interior (i checked it after removing tons of dust). There is a damagae done on drivers doors (very old). there is almost no rust on it, except of trunk where i have a hole  The engine starts without problems, and the gearbox seems to work. I post now a picture of the car condition as I bough it. The car is build to international specification and comes from Belgium. All numebrs match and and I have the tags, I am only missing Build sheet.
I am missing only few parts, two blinkers in fender and a handle to the gearbox shifter taht is broken. All other elements seems to be OK. I will post other picture through restoration process.

I must write that I have already received great support from Dave, despite the fact that maybe I am asking simple or maybe dumb questions. I will appreciate all the help and support that you can give me.
In Poland I have found only one Dodge that is working condition that belongs to Yaro( Thank you for your help), there is probably two more here so my will be fourth.

I am simply really happy that my dream has come truth.

hey Wojpi !

is that the belgian challenger?
i'm still curious where you found this rare piece of art, you told me it was close to antwerp, so that would be +/- 40km from my house...
the old man of my boss, had back then also a dealership near Lier, he thinks he knows the car... :D

anyway, good luck with it!

Yes the car indeed comes from Herentals, Belgium. I have already been working on it for last week so maybe tommorow i will post some new pictures. After just polishing and general cleaning the car looks much better.

Very nice. You have found something special there. Well done!

I would imagine that it should look a lot like Jens car. You should use his as an example of what yours should be as his is all original and un-restored.

That is a beautiful car. It was in excellent condition to start with! Mine had pretty extensive rust..... :(, but yours looked beautiful in its original condition. I like the colors you chose for it. I will never get used to the nose on the 72-74's, but I can easily overlook that with the craftsmanship thats gone into yours. I wish mine could look like that.

When you look back at how the car looked in the first photos it is hard to believe it is the same car.

Maybe you could put mine back together for me? :D

Thanks, now the trans i have now ready to instal rebuild 727 with shift kit and Hole shot 2500 stall converter. During the wintertime i have also secret plan ( good that wifes do not read this message board) to build very hot stroker (426) based on 360 block. This should have everything i need (lots of HP of course). I hope to reach 550-570 HP. New trans should handle that.
