70 heater cable to water valve

I removed mine about 15 years ago and I am trying to remember if mine went along the firewall and through the bulkhead next to the speedo cable, or in near the heater fan and along the inside of the dash?
I have a feeling it was the former rather than the latter.
Just to add more information. The steel bulkhead is different on AC cars.
