I know this is probably a dumb question but if I don't know the awnser then I guess it's not that dumb. Question: Did all years 70-74 challengers have the foot pump for windshield washer or just certain years? Any reply would help. Thanx.

It must be a good question. Because I don't know the answer!

There were two types of pump switch used that I know of. The foot operated one was with the standard dash I think and on the ralley dash with variable speed wipers it was part of the wiper switch on the dash.

I imagine that both kinds were available all years??? :?

Thanx alot, That does help. I have to use a standard dash on my 72 for now because I just can't afford the ralley set-up it came with just yet. But I will eventually convert back. Thanx for the info. (GREAT SITE!!!)

Nice thread and question. I haven't figured out any thoughts about this washer pump before reading this. I do have the standard cluster, also original mounted, but hehe  have never heard of the foot operated pump. Where is it supposed to be? Any pictures or info? I haven't got the car's instruction map.

According to the red book, the J25 option "Variable-speed vipers w/ electric washers" were available all of the years. The strange thing is that this book says that in 1972 (ONLY!), this option was standard if you also did choose the J97 Rallye instruments. I donĀ“t know how to interpret that. It feels like a misprint to me. A guess is that you got J25 if you did choose J97 all of the years. Conclusions? Yes, the foot operated pump was available all of the years!

Dave, I have a very foggy memory of this foot-pump windshield washer being standard on the Deputy along with the fixed rear quarter windows. Am I right?

I would imagine so Jack. What ever the cheaper option was the deputy got it.

I have a '70 Chally with the manual foot pump.
It is located just to the right and slightly above the headlight switch.
I have decided to leave mine stock for now, but might convert to the electric when I change the resorvoir over.
I'll forward pix of mine and its location soon.
