Rear sway bar pic's

Does anyone have any pic's of how a factory rear sway bar hooks up? The service manual is a little unclear. I have all the parts.

Also, kinda a stupid question but my bar needs new mounting bushings. How do you install the new one? How do you get them over the 'eyelet' on the end of the bar, especially if they are poly?

The factory sway bar bolts to the frame rails at each side and the ends to the axle.

Most aftermarket ones attach to the axle and the ends to the frame. The factory way is better for unsprung weight.

The bushings will be split so you can slip them over I would think?

At the moment I can´t help you with that. All I have found is a pic that shows how the aftermarket sway bars are mounted (Mopar Chassis Manual).

Here's some pictures of the stock setup for reference. Found these on the Muscle Car Restorations web site.

Might be a stupid question but did all cars come with rear sway bar? Mine doesn't have one now and I never gave it a thought before.

No.
The T/A was the first I think?

I don't think any 440 or 426 cars got one. They were more common on the later models.

Here's mine. It's the Firm Feel AAR/TA setup. Complete kit with black poly/graphite bushings.

Thinking about it more.

I think the rear sway bar might have been optional from 1970 on.
But I am not clear on if it was available on all models and axle packages or even if it was available right from the start of the model year.

I have a feeling in the back of my mind that it came as standard on the later Rallye models. But I have no information to prove that either way.

Rear sway bar code: S41 (on the broadcast sheet)

Jens car has that code. That is all I know.

That's a 1972 model yes?

I have only seen copys of two 1970 build sheets and they are 440+6 and Hemi cars. They only have front sway bars.

Found it.

In 1970 The rear sway bar was standard on the 383-4 and 340 pkg.

Optional with other models. Code S13 (Rallye suspension package) which was the HD front AND rear sway bar.

The S41 code is not listed on the 1970 MSRP. That code is for a rear bar only. So I still don't know when that one came out.

A bit more digging.

S13 was also part of the towing package in 1970.

In 1971 the 440 and 426 also got S13 as standard.

Again. No mention of S41 on the 1971 MSRP.

Yes.

Not standard on 440 and 426 cars then? Isn´t that very odd?

Then maybe 1972 was the first year for option code S41?

Btw; MSRP=?

MSRP = "Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price" list for the available options.
