Grounds, Tail/brake light issues...

Postby DAYLEY/CHALLENGER » 18 Sep 2013 23:22

Well it started this weekend and I finished last night..........The story.......went to a car show Sat and a couple behind me said my brake lights were not working correctly. Or the signals.........Took the car home after the show and at dusk started fidling with the lights. The parking lights were completely not working and the brake lights were dim on the drivers side and not much better on the passenger side. The signals caused all the lights at the rear to act funky........SO.....I removed all the tail light rings, housing , etc. Figured it was just a ground problem and looked at all the contact points. The paint was covering most of the points and so I scraped the spots, repainted the reflective housings, remounted the parts, put the light sockets back in and.................................they worked.........I knew nothing in the wiring was different so what else could it have been. I feel lucky..........maybe I need to buy a lottery ticket...... :D :D ..

Yeah, you find that alot of those little connections get painted over, plastered with undercoating and whatever else. I had the same problems with the side markers.
It's fun when it's easy!
