Owen

Postby burdar » 21 Dec 2012 21:10

I'm not going to be on here much for awhile. I'm not sure if my life will ever get back to normal. I just wanted to ask everyone to keep my son Owen in your thoughts. He's almost 4 and was diagnosed with brain cancer last Saturday. We've been in the ICU since then. He's had two surgeries so far and is going back in for another tomorrow. Then we will have chemo to deal with.

I don't know what to say really.........
What I do know is that i am fortunate enough that I don't have to deal with something like that and I sincerely hope I never have to.
My thoughts are with you and your family, please try and enjoy your Christmas with him and send him our love

Sorry to hear that. Several years ago I was diagnosed with a life-ending illness but after 3 months in hospital I was released. Still living on borrowed time. So I know a little of what you speak.
Best wishes to your family!!

Really sorry to hear this.
He will probably be on chemo for a year after to give him the best chance.
Kids are amazing at taking this sort of stuff in their stride. It is probably going to be worse for you and your wife as the parents.

I live next door to a Hospital where they do this sort of treatment as well as heart and lung transplants on small children. I often talk to the parents as the ones that smoke are usually pacing up and down outside and they are easy to spot. Some of them have not smoked for years and take it up again because of the worry.
I know my Dad was ill with worry when I had my brain inflamation and it was touch and go for me for a while. And I was in my late 40s when it happened!! I was just glad my mom was too far gone with dementia to worry about me.

It's going to be a tough road. No doubt about it. Just hang in there. We are thinking about you and I am sure those who believe in a God will be praying for you and your little boy.

Couldn't imagine dealing with something like that with my little girl. Life can be unfair at times, just be tough and know you are doing all you can for him. I hope everything works out for you and your family.

So sorry to hear that. You are in my family's thoughts and prayers. So young...

There are amazing stories out there of people beating the odds.
