Here is a tip for you. When you weld in new metal along the bottom of the rear window opening, just do a bit at a time. If you cut out the whole length (or god forbid the whole edge of the opening all around) the window opening will pop out of shape badly.
Because of the curves I just cut out and welded 6 inches at a time. I just used angle iron from B&Q.
