Dashboard Script Emblem

Postby cv70chall » 29 Apr 2012 20:06

I have the original plastic pinned script emblem and tried to get it looking good but failed. Does anyone know where I might be able to locate one? Is anyone making a repro?
It's the small 3 inch long plastic emblem that attached to the top passenger side dash corner.

Thanks!

No repros that i know of. It should have a "chrome" look finish. I am not sure how the original finish was done as mine, like most peoples, was worn off completely.

I had a new one for my 72 but I think it's slightly different to the 70&71 pieces.
It came from Lengendary Interiors I think

I have seen "cut-out" emblems from old dash pads that people are trying to sell. The question is how you attach them to a new dash pad in a good looking way? Just cut-out the script and glue it on? :?

The 70 emblem is unique. The 71-74 version uses the same emblem.

I think the 1970-only script is probably just held on with studs or plastic rivits on the back. I have never removed one so don't really know. But it does not seem glued on as you can lift it slightly in parts.

I painted glue on mine and layed on some thin foil. It lasted a year and then while cleaning the dash I accidently damaged it. So I tried again but no matter how I tried I could not get it looking as good as the first time.

I don't seem to have a good photo of it with the foil on but you can just see it in this photo.

I think so too.

(I do not think it is possible to remove the emblem without damaging the dash pad.)

I believe Dave at Rosevillemoparts.com sells both styles...1970 and 71-74.

Good find burdar!

I would be interested to find out how close to the original it is. The dash pad it is mounted on certainly isn't very clever looking.

The 71-74 emblem isn't 100% correct looking so I'd imagine the 1970 piece has a few small differences. Still, it's probably good enough for 95% of people.

Here are a couple of pictures of an OEM '70 Challenger dash script, one showing the mounting studs. The silver's worn off the front of this one also.
