Is it stamped on or cast on? Where exactly is it? The best number to ID the head is on the intake runner under the valve cover.

I couldn't see that number among my list of 'normal' big or small block heads. Help me narrow this down. Is it an iron LA engine head? Has it a cast date? Any idea at all how old it is?

Clever clogs!

That is why I don't have a listing for them in my stuff. They are too new!

Quarter inch coarse thread. Inch long if you use a washer as well.

1/4-20 National Coarse thread 3/4" long is correct for the stock steel valve covers. The additional thickness of the alloy covers would make that a bit short for them, so Dave might be correct on the 1" length.

I am sure I am Jack. I forgot to check of course.

Those cast rockers along with a thick rubber gasket and a washer take up a half inch or more themselves. I used stock length at first and stripped two threads because they did not go in far enough. Hex drive heads are best for these.

I meant no offense - I have no experience as yet with the cast aluminum covers. However, the new ones for the R/T SE are in the garage waiting for their turn to be bolted on, so I will be getting that first-hand once my problem with the wrong sized bushing is behind me.
