Close call!

Postby The Toy Peddler » 14 Jun 2010 22:04

I have my 70 challenger on the road now and have put about 250 miles on her. She's over-carbed with the 2x750's and needs some adjustment and leaning out, but otherwise running fine!
I had what sounded like my right front brake squeaking and occasionally putting out a short squeal. I jacked her up and took off the wheel. The self adjuster pin came loose and the lever and spring were just flopping around in there. The pin was worn in 1/2 from getting caught in the brakes. This could have been pretty bad, because it was only luck that right front didn't just lock up at an inopportune moment, like when I had my wife in the car for a test drive before the seat belts were installed!

That is quite scary Paul. Good thing you caught it in time especially on those mountain roads in Oregon.

As I get older the steering and brakes are now my main concern. Way back when it was horsepower and looks. :lol2: Ya gotta be able to ster and stop the car too.:s007:

Reminds me of when Drew was showing off flying up an off-ramp at high speed and braking late with me, Wayne and Pat in the car and a rear brake caliper we later found was hanging off.

Yes but the question "will it" was on all our minds for a second or two. Including the driver!

No one threw up or pooped their pants (that they admit to) so that was OK. :wink2:

You have belts on the rear seat?

I think the buckle for mine must have been under Pats arse then.
And no way would I be putting my hand in there to find that!
