death proof is a really good movie, challenger vs charger, mustang mach and chevy nova, all in really nice shape, great stunts with good actors, its worth to see.

About fast and furious, yeah I agree there are a lot of computer scenes and ridiculous boosts moments but, chevelle ss, charger and beautiful ford gran torino. Its worth to watch latest F&F just to see some muscles.

P.S just to let u know, death proof is a Tarantino film :)

It is in typical Tarantino style. I liked the movie myself but then I like most of his movies......even if you don't like the story line the cars are cool and the chase sceens are good. It is worth watching for that alone.
Notice that they added window pillars to the Challenger for one of the stunts!!

I'll help, here is a list of some I've seen, some I've been looking for (some for years).

If you liked French Connection (or any US police flick of the 70s, for that matter), you'll love this :
The Seven-Ups (1973) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070672/
Possibly the best movie car chase ever : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vACWV5sRcY

The Driver (1978) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077474/

To Live and Die in LA (1985) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090180/
It's a Friedkin movie, it can't be bad.
[EDIT : I just saw that one on TV last week. While it's a good movie, it certainly can't be called a car movie, unless you're REALLY into 80's Chevies]

Fear Is the Key (1972) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068576/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLmk0x94wNU
A Gran Torino 1972, and Barry Newman, who needs more incentive?

More American Graffiti (1979) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079576/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjOPtMoROoA
Hot Rod (1979) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079307/
Fireball Jungle (1969) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064330/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl6eTH9k6ws
Hi-riders (1978) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076140/
The California Kid : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071268/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-h6lSVOyn4
The Sicilian Cross (1976) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074494/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgUifkg4XD4
Midnite spares (1983) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085939/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxbOx679HfM
Runnin On Empty (1982) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5NpgDiHfYA
The Last American Hero (1973) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070287/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQVFjJ13eTY
Black Cat Run (1998) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0138326/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZp2IduOO2o
The Master Touch (1972) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069446/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hzlnhz4V3Y8
Red Line 7000 (1965) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059641/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORq50aQWVDI
Red Line 7000 : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082619/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KynMbNsDCfY
And a French movie for a change : Le Marginal : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cz0ZY0xvGdw

Catch Me If You Can : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097029/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwxkCQPSr10
Greased Lightning (1977) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076106/

If you like Can-am cars, you should check out :
The Last Chase (1981) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082642/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIqoGOSyLfc
A bit cheesy, but high-speed driving with a Canam Porsche on abandoned country roads while being chased by cops riding tricycles has to be cheesy one way or the other...

Generally, any 1970s movie done by Roger Corman, or starring either Warren Oates, John Carradine or Peter Fonda may appeal to us car maniacs.
For example :
Death Race 2000, Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry, Deathsport...
American Graffiti (under 1 million dollars, filmed in just 29 days)

The driverless vehicle story is a style in itself :
Maximum Overdrive : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091499/
I should say this about the latter movie, it's the only movie Stephen King ever directed, he always had others direct movies adapted from his books afterwards.
That must mean something. However, I like this movie (I'm easy to please), but most people don't (and while there are vehielss in it, it's neither cars, nor muscle cars)
The Car : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075809/
The Wraith : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092240/

Additionnaly, any movie related to moonshiners is bound to be a good one.
Dixie Dynamite : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074415/
White Lightning : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070915/ (has a sequel called Gator : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074564/ )
Moonrunners (1975) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071854/
Moonshine County Express (1977) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076409/

Some friends tell me this is a must-see :
Fast Company (1979) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079138/

I'm curious about this one :
Nitro (2007) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0790602/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QegqLS83FFw
(and no, these guys don't speak French! but it's too damn funny to hear)
and also this one :
Redline (2007) : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0780595/

I like this one, although it's a documentary, not a movie :
Funny Car Summer (1974)

Check out Wrong side Of The Art, there's a section for carsploitation movie posters :
http://www.wrongsideoftheart.com/catego ... loitation/
Lots of other movies there too...

On a side note, I've recently seen an interview of Sarafian, he was saying 20th Century Fox made him use Barry Newman in his movie because 'his dad went to all the Italian funerals in NY and had connections...'

The car was not scheduled to be a Challenger (Ford Shelby says Sarafian), but in return for favors from Chrysler to the Fox studios (lots of free cars), the guy in charge of the cars for Sarafian showed him a Challenger, he said OK, and Chrysler gave them 5 cars.

If anyone spends two hours on internet watching videos, it's not my fault! You guys are too curious!

Before I run back home, there's also a Challenger in Terminal Velocity, I think (but that's no car movie). Also in Natural Born Killers, Blind Horizon,

I don't think anybody can top that lot :!: Excellent work
White Lightning and Gator I remember I think. Young Burt Reynolds as a moonshine runner called Gator McClusky with a hopped up brown sedan :?:

Redline has been out on DVD for almost a year now IIRC. Lots of cars (many Lambo Gallardos<sp>). It's about a bunch of rich folks who like betting, it just happens they also like expensive cars. They race on an old airport and the finale is a race on a public highway in the desert southwest. There are quite a few exotics in this movie, though all identification has been removed from the cars. IIRC there's a Porsche GT2, McLaren Mercedes, Vector, Lambos all over, newer Mustang Cobra R and several others I can't recall offhand. I have the DVD somewhere in my collection.

The first two Transporter movies had some decent car scenes for newer movies.
I've also got a DVD called Redlined (not same as above) but don't recall much about it. It's about underground street racing ricers.
Another classic car chase is The Italian Job. Even the remake was pretty good.
Return to Macon County features a '55 Chevy hotrod with a young Nick Nolte as the driver and Don Johnson as the mechanic.
The Junkman, by "Toby" Halicki (maker of the original Gone in 60 Seconds)
Gone In 60 Seconds 2 (not very good sequel to the original)
I believe the Canonball movies were already mentioned
Ronin has a good chase with an Audi
Hot Rod aka Rebel of the Road, stars a Hemi Willys and lots of 60s rods and racers.
A couple of classic racing movies worth watching are Gran Prix (James Garner) and expecially LeMans (Steve McQueen)
Some good documentaries are The World's Greatest Rally Cars (cars from 1973-2000) and
Dust To Glory is a great documentary on the Baja 1000 (if you are into offroad racing like I am).
I'll look through my DVD collection a little more thoroughly later for more if I have any.

Just remembered another humorous car movie, Munsters Go Home! Who could forget the Munster Moble and Grandpa's Coffin Racer along with period road racers.

'The Last Ride' features GTO's old and new. It's not a bad film.

It's not a good one either.

I remember going to see the Munsters at the local cinema when I was about 4 and it had been out a few years then. I think Grandpas coffin based hot rod was called "Drag-U-la" and the Munsters familly car was the "Roach Coach". There was a Munsters car in the Cars of the Stars museum (now sadly closed) in Keswick, don't know if it was genuine or a recreation. Any way the coolest car chases ever are'nt in a film, they are on a tv screen somewhere on a kids channel right now, and they are the Whacky Races :!: Go for it Muttley

I'm gonna phone 'em 2moro and find out for sure. I thought the Barris Batmobile was sold at a London collecter car auction last summer, and that a lot of the displays had been relocated to the new London Motor Museum which I think is in Middlesex. Last time Carol and I were there it was all boarded up and I thought I read that the owner had called it a day. Be nice if its still going strong :D

I thought so.

They are always rotating stock. There is a similar museum in Scotland run by the father of a guy that works here in the Uni and they often rotate stock between each other so there is always something new for visitors to see.
