If you feel older in the body then you actually ARE.. then you are what? LoL.. I am 30 and feel no older in my head, but i also think that my body will age faster then my date of birth on paper..

How old were you when you bought your Challenger? I was 23 and I'd already owned several American classics by then. Strange but buying older cars made me feel older than my friends, still buzzin around in tinny rice burners or gay little fwd Fords. I've only started regressing since mid thirties but hope to acheive infant by about retirement age :lol:

Why feel older driving a older car at all..?

I found it in a chicken farm 10 minutes from where I live. I think that because the only other people to have 70/80's Americans at the time were that bit older I ended up having a much older group of friends

Yeah, i can see that... It's a bit the same over here.. Not so common to be young and have a Challenger or muscle car at all, i tell you.. I guess that is not only because lack of interest among younger people.. It's quite expensive cars.. but compared to those Supra or Skyline etc i don't know if it's true really either(?) Many younger thinks muscle cars are cool and smile when they see them pass bye on the streets, but not many have the interest enough to get one on their own... i wonder why, but still i am happy that not everybody drives the same cars.. It would not be fun at all if there where 100 black Challengers on the streets at my town... =)
Howewer.. The rest of mopar and muscle car owners here are like 50+/- years.. But that does'nt bother me at all... the age doesn't make a difference for friendship.. :thumbsup:

I think it's awesome, that you have had the same Challenger for that long, i hope you will keep it!

I turned 30 while I was waiting for my Challenger to arrive from the US. That was over 20 years ago. :s008:

But my previous Mopar I owned for 7 years before that. I was 23 when I bought that one.

It feels strange when people get rid of their cars after so long... There is a guy over here that have had his -70 Challenger 318sb convertible for over 20 years, and just recently sold it...

I only ever had the two Mopars. It was an Australian Valiant Charger 770 with a 318. It was the first car I ever bought and I bought it when I seperated from my first wife.
I was also into fast Fords and owned a modified Mk2 Ford Escort. But not until after I had bought the Charger.

Unless you count a Hillman Imp and a couple of Jeeps as Mopars. :lol:

They had Chrysler markings and parts.

I was 19 when I paid £400 for a 72 Pontiac LeMans coupe with a 400inch RamAir motor. Had'nt even passed my driving test so Carol had to sit with me on Learner plates :!:

Got some very strange looks :mrgreen:

Carol still gets 'em now :lol:

So cool that they had the 340sb!! I wonder if there is any 340 engines forgotten in some barns, to get at fair prices in Australia, as from cars like this i mean :p:

I'll be 50 next month and can't imagine ever selling the Challenger. It has been been with me through both good and bad times, taught me discipline, respect, resourcefulness, and many other traits that have helped me make it to this day.

Overall a great learning experience, not the least of which all the pretty girls that sat in the seat next to me. :biggrin:

Those Australian Chargers are very cool cars. My best mates dad has one in Australia that has a 6cylinder motor that is either a Hemi head or has 3 little twin chokes to make some sort of 6Pak I'm not really sure,but its very collectable.
Got a 4speed and loads of goodies, runs 14's easy.
Quite a few appeared here in the 80/90's and most of what I saw had 318's and auto's. Beauty of 'em of course is they are right hand drive.

All the ones imported to the UK were 318 V8 powered but the R/T version was a straight six the Ozzys call the Hemi Six. This was the one to have as it had a 145mph top speed.

It was available with the Oz version of a six pack which was three twin-choke side draft carbs.

My mates Dads is white with a blacked out hood,black stripes a bit like a T/A stripe and a black rear window louvre and deck spoiler.
Really nice looking car, I never understood why they were often looked down upon by purists :roll:

Not strictly a hemi (like the new Chysler engines) but they called them that.

I am 31 so my challenger is 9 years older than me! When I was a teenager and in my early 20's the aussie and americian 70 and early 80's muscle cars were the ones to have. Even know in the country they seem more popular than the rice burners. It is a bit different now in the city with most of the younger kids drivings Jap stuff.

I test drove a 72 hemi 6 aussie charger when I first got my my licience. It was real clean and only $3500 but my dad wouldn't let me buy it because he reckoned I wouldn't afford the fuel bill. I ended up with a VL holden commodore instead.
I hope to restore a aussie charger after my challenger is finished. :lol:
