I do this on the side, i have done about 50 or so grilles over the years and have become quite handy at fixing some pretty rare grilles, i can fix most types of plastic and some aluminum/metal grilles too!

i dont charge a fortune , about $75.00 to do the super bee grille, and about $100.00 to do the 340 duster grille

i would charge a little more , but this guy has helped me out alot and i have a debt with him so this is an easy way for me to repay it

Very Nice work there Drew! BTW, I have a 'Mint' 70 Challenger grill in the rafters but it has a 'small' 1 inch 'tear' at the front leading edge left side. It also some numerous scratches some deep into the metal. Can you repair it or is it even repairable?? Thanks

yes i fixed my chally grille ,it was torn pretty bad, i used jb weld, and had to fill alot of damage,

but remember i painted mine,i have some polishing compounds here, but i can never get the origonal luster , like the factory did, that finish is special and very thin, is it called "metal brite"?

or something like that, but i can fix the dents , and polish it as much as possible,it wont be perfect but i can make it look alot better,

after looking at your pic again eddie it looks like it would have to be refinished, i think there is an outfit that does it or they at least used to , maybe dave knows the company that refinishes that "brite metal":nod:

Thanks Drew. I'll check into that 'brite finish' if you can do the repairs, I could send it off to someone who can 'dip it' or whatever they do to anodise or plate that finish on.

yes it will need to be replated, as in electroplated, i have only done electroplating once

and it takes some time ,and a vat that is big enough to fit the grille

thats why i painted mine in a satin black i figured it looks good but not original & theres a lot of that going on with my car so thats easier & cheaper & i can do it myself instead of paying someone big money just to find out they didnt know what they were doing
i like your work drew keep it up even if theyre not exactly original as long as they look good im sure youll have people wanting the job done

thanks ian, yes sometimes its easier to just paint it, but with the unit ed has he should try to get it fixed, they are worth alot,

and yes these broken grilles would other wise end up in the trash, so if i can at least make them good enough for some one to use (not show quality,although i did one for a show car,and his car won 1st place in a national show),but for the most part i enjoy getting an old part back on a car its challenging and fun,

That is what restoration is all about. Too many people think "restoring" means the same thing as "replacing".
