Weatherstripping question

Postby The Toy Peddler » 09 Aug 2009 3:10

I am in the process of restoring a 1970 Challenger. I purchased all new weatherstrips. I would like to know if any you suggest using adhesives in any places besides the trunk seal. My kit suggests around the door seals, but is there anywhere else you suggest using an adhesive or sealer besides there? Above the side windows? Hood to cowl seal?
One more thing. The cowl weatherstrip has a rounded edge and a grooved edge. Which goes towards the windshield. I clipped it on with the rounded edge towards the windshield, but it can go either way and wanted to be sure it is correct.

this probably won't be helpful, but i can't see any other place for contact adhesive besides the trunk. The turret seal (above the side windows) lies in a groove i think? And the door seals have pin clips at enough intervals for it to not sag, along with small screws at each end. As for the trunk cowl, are you talking about the radiator, or the rear of hood? i have many photos of the rad cowl but they are 5000km away sorry- the open edge points forward, doesn't sound right but it is. It sits in there quite neatly. not sure about the rear seal, i have a new one but have not fitted it yet.
