Hard to get down here. I had an A230 (the 3 speed you have) and i am pretty sure the bellhouse is the same as the A833 4 speed. Even the drive shafts are the same as the extension housing is the same length and uses the 4 speed/727 yoke.
the A230 gearbox was pretty strong. They specified it for use behind the 383 as well so its got my respect. Pity it only had 3 speeds....!
 I will try and find a 4 speed now to swap out the 3 speed
