install back seat in 70 convertible

I've had the back seat out before and can't remember having any difficulty getting it back in. This time I've tried everything and can't get the seat cushion (not the seat back) back in. Would anyone have any tips?

I don't remember any difference between the convertible and the hardtop for this part. You have to push it back a little, then down and the hooks fall into their brackets. Both sides at the same time.

Check that the tabs are not bent, and the hooks too.

If I remember right, the 'verts have an extra set of seat brackets. Take a close look to be sure you are not hanging up on the "hardtop" set of brackets.
