Loose Antenna

Postby cv70chall » 27 Apr 2009 18:53

We're gettingt ready to re-paint and noticed the antenna is loose.
What's the best way to get this thing tightened down? Do we have to remove the fender or wheel well?

Thanks-----

We're getting close!

If you are re-painting...why do you want to tighten up the antenna? Shouldn't you be removing it for paint? Are you going to paint the engine comp body color like it should be or leave it black?

The antenna just has a chrome nut on the top. If you are careful you can just use some pliers and an old t-shirt to tighten it up.

There is a correct tool for the job but they are not easy to find.

If you remove the large cover under the wheel arch you can get to the underside of the antenna.

Maybe someone can scan page 1-5, fig. 5 in the ยด70 Service manual? I do not have access to a scanner right now. What I am getting at, is that the gasket might be missing and/or that the adapter might be of the wrong type. There are several similar versions of them. :s006:

Thanks for the tip. Actually, we are taking off the antenna (of course) prior to painting.
I'm going to keep the engine compartment black (for now) until I decide to upgrade the motor.
