I might get in trouble off Dave here, but I didn't want to add it to the old post because people tend not to want to look at old posts, anyway, here's the pictures you wanted. Certainly looks factory to me. Not sure how they have attached it to the shock X member but looks like permanant rivets. Those two canvas straps loop around on each other. I can't remember how the exhaust strap itself went in relation to these two straps, possibly on another bracket bolted to the two inner holes. Or perhaps there was a bar joined at those two giant pins on the straps.

Thanks for the pics. I kind of remember something like that now that I see it. I don't think I have a good picture of my shock X-member but I'm sure the hanger bolts to that. I think there might be an extra "tab" on the X-member for the hanger.

It looks to me like the tailpipe goes right up against the hanger and then the U part of an exhaust clamp holds it tight. Part of the hanger looks to be curved and there are holes on either side of it.

I'll have to search through the stash and see it I still have that hanger somewhere. Thanks again for the pics.

I have a different style canvas strap on my challenger. One on each side, with only 1 strap that does not have a loop, but has a metal U riveted on the end of the strap that the U bolt for the exhaust goes into. I will take pictures soon.

Please do...I was just talking to the shop manager about another issue and had him check out the shock X-member. He said that he couldn't see any bracket that was riveted to it. He said the only thing he saw on the front side of it was the small bracket for the vapor separator.

I don't have anything on my crossmember but the tabs for the gas/vapor lines. I don't remember any hangers coming off of the shock crossmember.

Here are some pictures, if you can tell what you are looking at....my barn has no power until the power company fixes our underground line. It looks like the hangers are held on by screws from the interior. These screws were the same gunmental color as the rest of my interior before I stripped it all, so I assume that these are factory.

Doesn't seem much holding that hanger's weight up. If its just that bolt through the floorpan to the left of the seat mount bracket, unless it has some reinforcing of some kind. Are you sure that's factory?

The bolt head on the interior was the factory silver, but I cannot speak for it being factory. It is an assumption at best.

But it does have large contact surfaces on both sides, and exhaust is not something that requires heavy-duty braces to hold up.

You would be supprised how much weight those hangers need to carry. The only other hanger is at the very back of the car. The mid-point hanger has to carry the resonators and the exhaust pipe. Not to mention that the exhaust system "bounces" every time you go over a bump in the road. I also don't think it would take long for the mufflers to get some water in them from combustion either. Add all that up and you have a good deal of weight there. I wouldn't think that one bolt in the fairly thin floor pan would have been enough for the factory. That is why they had the 2 piece hanger on the drivers side.

If I had to guess, I don't think those are factory hangers. I'm just going to have to wait and take a look at the car once I get it back. My guess is that it should have the hanger that was origonally posted. I checked the website of a company that offers complete exhaust systems for Challengers. They list that hanger for the passengers side.

Here are some pics from my 71 Service Manual, single and twin systems. I can't see the type of bracket on my 73, maybe they changed it for the model change? It is similar though, just bolts through and hangs off that floorpan brace instead of hanging of the shock cross member
