Parts to rebuild door

Postby mferrari » 05 Apr 2009 13:50

I have a door that I need to restore. I have removed everything from it and had it stripped and primed now I would like to re-assemble it and need to see about replacement parts such as weather stipping the felt covered window guides etc...

Is there a place where I can buy a kit with all the parts in it?

where is the best place to buy replacement parts for door?

This guy, Ed, has heaps of small parts like that: http://www.themoparshop.com/shop/

He is slow at fixing up his website - so probably best to call if you can't see what you want on the site

Yearone has an 8 pc weatherstripping kit that includes the felt pieces with chrome trim on both sides of the door, and on the quarter windows. Kind of expensive though, and it DOES NOT include the rubber weatherstripping running along the tops of the windows.

I always thought that Year One would have good prices since they are a huge company. I was wrong. After comparing prices, a lot of the smaller companies have them beat by a lot.

I have had great luck with Tom at R/T Specialties. He can be a little hard to get ahold of though. Check out the website. www.rtspecialties.net

He has all the small clips and things you will ever need. I bought my chrome wheelwell mouldings from him too. They fit pretty good and the price was way cheaper than Year One.

Yes. Year One are expensive.

But years ago they were really the only complete source for your restoration needs and as much of their stock as possible was New Old Stock.

These days there are many more companies running and mostr of the NOS stuff has dried out.

The only advantage to Year One these days is their customer service. They are fantastic to deal with (important for us overseas lot) and have a no argument return or replacement service.
I have had parts arrive in the UK battered to hell by the postal service and dockers. Year One have simpley sent out replacements straight away without me needing to send the originals back.

You can't get better service than that so for that reason I still use Year One for occasional items.

Wow, just checked out RT Specialties - what a great place! They have a great many things there, thanks for letting us know. I thought it might have been Charger Specialties at first - i don't recommend them - i bought an electronic Repro Tacho from them off Ebay. An 8000 RPM Rallye Tacho, and it had been calibrated for a 6 cylinder! I had it reset to an 8 cyl at an instrument shop, but it still was not accurate throughout its whole range, which you would expect from an electronic tacho. I emailed them three times - no response, how arrogant. Ebay can be a haven for these type of dealers, i have found
