i have a 72 dodge challenger it came with a 318 but i am installing a 440 i need to change the torsion bars but i found some they told me they came off a 70 challlenger big block car but the number on the bars reading udd755l and the other is 774r uhj on the other can you tell me if these are big block bars thank you.
I'm not sure if you're bars are factory Chrysler T-Bars. The part number on 1970-71 factory 440/426 Torsion bars are 1857781-780 these are 41" long with .920 diameter and a brown inspection daub on the length of the bar. Maybe your's are big block bars but aftermarket. What is the diameter of these bars?
i rebuilt the front end and change the torson bars to .90 with the 440 in there where do i draw my measurement from on each side of the car to get the right height of the car. and i try to find the factory height with no luck. Thank you.
There is a factory way to measure but it is not easy to do and does not take into effect how the rear is sitting.
Your eye is the best tool.
But bare in mind that adjusting one front bar will also effect the height at the opposite corner in the rear. So whatever way you decide to do this check the rear heights at the same time.
