Have you cloned your car?

Postby 70 340 » 25 Jan 2009 1:18

Was just interested to see what cars have been cloned and what did you start with ie: R/T 383 to a hemi car.

I suppose, strictly speaking, my car is a clone.

I took a B5 blue 440 magnum with white interior, white vinyl top and white bee stripe and turned it into a V2 hemi orange 440 six pack with black interior and black vinyl top.

And I don't care. :p:

:D I agree all of you, why bother wich taste the guy who ordered the car from the factory 1970- 1974 had. It is you as the present owner who should care for your own taste and "needs", do what ever you want and follow your heart, do what you feel is best for you & your car! :p:

Yes i agree, that's why i had a '70 440 4 speed RT and cloned it into Deputy Coupe. I pulled the low mile 440 out and it is now used to power our generator. i found a good used 198 Slant Six and 3 speed manual column shift and put that in. The original colour was red/black trim - i repainted it into baby-poo brown, with tan vinyl roof and all green interior.

Now no- one looks at the car as i drive past.

I hope you all believe me.

That's why ours is in several shades of grey primer. Perhaps I should put some red oxide primer on for contrast :blushes:

The T/A is my #1 dream car and there's nothing I would concider clone it into.

Though if I want another color painted or maybe add a rimblow and rallye cluster or the SE seat covers, I don't care of what the fender tag says. That's all reversible mods for those who care.

I have tried to keep mine as close to original as possible. However I have thougt about putting stripes from a 71 RT on it in place of the 73 strobe stripes. And yes the motor has got a couple of performance modifications. I do agree that the person making the modifications is the one that has to be happy with them. Modify but please don't destroy.

 They're our car's and, we really should build them the way, we want. But, taking a '70, 440 4speed, R/T and, making a Deputy out of it. :?:
I believe you, I just don't understand... :?

Mines gonna stay a 1970 A66 Challenger till the day I die. And the next guy better not f*#k it up with a 599.99 stroker, XKE, Nos injected, blah blah blah.....

Original, with the right motor and other combos are the only thing that would make me buy another 70's car! Otherwise it's just a name with speed parts on it. And yes, even an original slant six, three on the tree, plain Jane is appealing.

Sorry guys, just in that kinda mood tonight.

Damn- only got one believer, if only for a short time !- Oh well, the real truth is, that would surely be blasphemy and my real clone car is a green/tan roof/green trim 1971 318/904 slapstick into a red/black/black 440 Tremec 5 speed/Posi RT clone.

I have just had the good fortune to buy some new repro rear brake cooler scoops in Australia (ex Year One).

Sorry can only supply a "before" shot- the red car is how i dream it will turn out.

Thanks all.

They were an extra cost option.

Here is one of each. Challenger and Barracuda.
