Here in the UK it takes me only 5 hours to travel 300 miles. That is with a couple of short stops and heavy traffic on the roads. So multiplying that up it works out as 16 hours to Denver from Eddies. So you are probably not far wrong on the timescale Eddie.
But you are unlucky if you get stopped for speeding here in the UK at anything between 70-85mph. Usually there are so many people driving at that speed that the police only concentrate on those drivers going over 90mph. And there are still plenty of them.
However the AVERAGE speed I usually manage is pretty low. Because of the heavy traffic we can only get over 70mph in short stretches. I always imagined that on those long American roads we could average a higher speed even if keeping under 70mph?
When me and my brother were kids my dad was a long distance truck driver and during the summer holidays he used to drop us off at our grandparents a few hundred miles away. He was used to never stopping for many hours. If we wanted a pee he would make us pee in a bottle and pour it out of the window.
If he did have to stop for some reason (like if my sisters or mother was with us) he used to get really agitated about "dropping his average speed".
I have grown up the same. If Diana makes me stop I am like a caged tiger nagging her to get going again.
So don't expect any long rest breaks with me around Eddie. Just a quick "splash and dash" two or three times.
