Limerock Time Trials

Postby Moparman1972 » 14 Oct 2008 0:21

On October 25th there will be an open track day with the EMRA racing organization at the road course in Limerock, CT. I know a couple people live in the northeast here, maybe you would be interested in bringing your challengers?

The site for the club is www.emraracing.org, but its very confusing and theres some conflicting information as to what is required to run on the course. I emailed one of the organizers and I have all the info/forms that apply to this event, if anyone is interested.

Its going to be $280 total for me, as I dont have any kind of race license and I need to go through a training school in the first half of the day.

I was between bringing my 429 Maverick or the Chally, but since I got my porsche last week, I'll definitely be running that. It runs the same class as some lamborghinis!

I'm borrowing my buddy's in-car camera that he uses for all his demo derbies, should make for some interesting footage!

So Limerock was an absolute blast. I'm definitely doing it again.

In the morning the track was pretty dry, and I got signed off for solo time after my first ride with an instructor. They decided to bump up the timed runs to avoid the rain, but it let loose right before they let my 3 car group on the track. With only a half-lap warm up time and pouring rain, I ended up bobbling it in one of the turns and ruining my lap time. Ended up with 7th overall in my class. There was a Lancer Evo that ended up spinning into a wall and wrecking the left side of his car.

There were some really high dollar cars there, and some really interesting budget racers. One guy had a volvo 240 sedan, and he was racing in the same class as the corvettes!

Glad to hear you had fun MoParMan1972! Thanks for sharing your time and pics. Shame the rain had to ruin the fun. Too bad for the Bitsumishi I mean bits of sushi, err Mitsubishi! Nice Porsche! How do you keep a 429 powered Maverick on the tarmac?

Ha, as for the maverick, the answer is you dont.

They didnt cancel the event even after it started pouring, so it was really go out at your own risk. Most people packed up and left, which was great, because those of us that stayed got to take laps with less pressure.

One poor gentleman had drag slicks on his 1986 camaro, and it was like watching the dukes of hazzard movie when he tried to turn. Man did he have fun though.
