Just received my car Domain newsletter and there's a short article, with photo. Talk about turning the Challenger into a generic ride :hmmm:

NASCAR’s Nationwide Series has started testing its own version of the Car of Tomorrow, and who do you suppose was the coolest prototype on the track? Dodge rolled up in a badass Challenger, which might even be running in 2010 with this factory-looking front clip!

Thanks Barc, pretty cool, I guess. I havent watched a circle track event in years.

Will they even be competitive? Do they make Dodge use the older engine designs as in the big leagues? :lol:

I don't think they'll end up using that nose. Doesn't have the aerodynamics. This is a repeat of the late '60s with the Charger. The Charger nose was inletted also. It created enough drag thaat it wasn't competitive. That brought about the Charger 500. I think the same will happen here.

What is cool about this is that someone is thinking about possible motorsports uses for the Challenger

Perhaps there will be a road racing version :thumbsup:

One could make a business case for a series of series specific layouts (IMSA/TransAm, drag, endurance, track car etc). MP (or whomever) could sell everything from a bare chassis to a turnkey ride.

The Charger 500 also had the flush rear window as another aerodynamic fix. All leading up to the Charger Daytona. My dream car. :thumbsup:

I cant see why they would even have the recessed grille on that car. It's suicide to try and run the car with it in the modern racing scene, and why test it like this if they are going to change to a flush design? That's a huge aerodynamic change, and it throws all that testing they're doing with this one out the window, really.

Moparman, I believe it's all marketing. Just more getting the Challenger name in front of another demographic.
Also you're correct about the rear window,plus many other mods such as the A pillars etc.. I just stated the front clip as an example of what I was talking about.
