dave-r wrote:You must give us the full spec of the engine and chassis when you can Dave. The car has evolved so much since the first time I ever saw it on the street in Darlington that I have got no idea where it is at now.
Where do I start, this is gonna be long!
.
The car is usually street legal. We've had a few engine teething troubles, since this is a new combination from last year, waiting for parts to get stuff sorted discouraged us from getting it taxed (It's a '74 so we have to pay!
) It's only done 41 passes and we've altered and found out stuff as we've gone along.
Ok, so it's a 572ci motor. Callies crank, Oliver rods and CP gas ported pistons. K/B Aluminium block with ported Indy -13 heads. Jesel 1.6 arms. Smith bros 3/8 ball/ball pushrods . Comp Cams Roller and valve train (more to follow). Ported 440-3x single 4500 intake. 1200cfm custom dominator by Pro Systems. Headers are 2 1/4 inch custom stainless steel with 4 inch merge collectors. 250 gph pump and - 12 line, return is -6. Moroso electric water pump. Aluminium rad with twin fans thermostatically controlled (for quicker warm up) 4 vane Vac pump. Super stock Milodon sump, dual line external oiling system and hi vol MP pump. The only real Chrysler parts in it are the oil pump and the aluminium water pump housing
. It's fixed to the car with a 10mm, one piece motor plate. The 727 'box is modified too. Steel drum, kolene steels, red plates, billet survo's, Low band apply valve body oiling mods, etc etc. I do my own gearboxes. This goes to a 4:10 dana 60 with stock 4 spider suregrip and moser 35 spline axles. 29.5 x true 10.5 slicks on centre line convo pro's. 29 x 4 et fronts. Caltrac rear springs and system. stock front with CE 3 ways.
There's a little bit more left in the heads, they can be ported a bit more but at the cost of some low lift flow . Most suprising is it want's more cam now!. At the moment it's a solid roller .737" (theoretical) lift with zero lash (we usually have 16 -18 thou of lash), retarding the cam 4 degrees, it picked up a solid 2 /10ths which equals about 30 hp at this level. We could do with some more lift and duration on the intake and a little more duration on the exhaust. A custom cam would be the order of the day here.
Car has a full 14 point cage thats tagged to 8.50 It weighs over 3850lb w/driver, the only 'glass part is the bonnet (hood). The back seat is only half there because of the cage but the rest of the interior is all there with Kirkey alloy seats and some extra gauges. Last winter it had a full repaint and a bit of bodywork repair. We also got some new trim weather stripping etc . Just a couple more pieces and the restification bit would be done. I've probably left loads out though.
Best et is 9.71 and 140 mph but we're always looking to improve
Ps Dave, thanks for posting the "report" on the MMA site
