just a quick tape job , but this is kinda what i have in mind, any opinions, criticizisms, witicizisms, anything would be greatly appreciated! :biggrin:

I have one I bought from a guy in the US who makes AAR/TA spoilers, which looks a lot like the center piece on your picture. No lateral parts though, yours look really good.... Where'd you get it? did you fabricate that yourself?

What does it look like from the side? (what's the angle?)

i got mine from the cuda spoiler guy named jon, i fabbed the sides as i always felt they needed the side to kinda wrap around the fender a little,i might experiment with more straight ,rather than curved,the car kinda has a big smile,its growing on me ,here is a side pic

ya know i might as well say this, as i know where you are coming from, i make teeth for a living, i make dentures, partials, night guards and various other appilances , so i have mad several "avoid embarrresment" teeth in the 26 years i have dont this, i am self employed, and work from home so i have seem the worst of incidents one that i must mention, DONT USE A TOW CHAIN TO PULL STUMPS, CARS ETC.USE A ROPE,there was a patient i had to help as best i could, she was driving her dads truck pulling a stump out on a farm here, and the chain broke, it came all the way across the wind shield and smashed the whole left side of her face in , she lost an eye as well as the entire mandible(lower jaw), the docs rebuilt her and i made some teeth for her, man she was lucky it didnt take her head off, the moral to the story is rather obvious,so i digress, hope your teeth are healing well,as you know you need to be very careful with your front teeth after all the are our grills :biggrin:

Nice Drew, I think it's great idea! I hope you dont mind a few questions as I am still trying to learn about body work especially composites and fiberglass/plastic. I think it's just what you need to keep the front end planted. I wonder how it affects your high speed steering. Have you thought about the front brake cooling? Will any of these things be affected at speed? Are you going to use carbon or glass? Adjustable? Thats what I am doing now. Working with plastic molded body parts and fiberglass. I wish I had an oven for Carbon though. :lol:

this piece is fiberglass, i intend in making a prototype of sorts, then make a mould, and possibly make it in carbon fiber, but cost is a factor, however, i would like to make it as strong as possible, but also intend on using zeus fastiners for removal on the street, the cooling on the will be affected by how much i dont , since i only race once or twice a year it they get hot i get off the track, but i still feel that the wheels i am running have big openings in the wheel area,so maybe they wont get that remember i am running wilwood brakes and have really liked the stopping power, the high speed steering is what im after this car lifts at high speeds and i can feel it under the car, i also need to remove the rear wing spoiler if intend on reducing drag,and dirty air behind the car,ed body work take practice and alot of patience,looks like you have a good practice piece there to work on and ill keep you up to date on my project soon :nod:

Cool Drew, Thanks for the info! My friend who worships Ed Roth and Von Dutch makes em out of glass. He told me the same exact thing you did. Patience and time. Both are required in body work/moulding repair. I finished that piece up last week. The plastic welds are easy. The painting sucked. I havent figured out all those damned adjustments on the paint gun. Damn! Runs, drips, thin spots you name it. It loked like a child painted it! :s024:

I'm learnin though. I wish they had an oven. My bud told me we could make Carbon fiber pieces that are stronger than most alloys,(Steels), and his 49 Chevy Truck has it in abundance! Yeah keep me up to date on it. I am looking for a new business to start! :thumbsup:

Same one I have then (I took it with the brake duct openings though).

I found the fit a bit funny :
- if I put the spoiler flat on the valance panel, the corners are too far from the fender (but your add-ons hide this, might be a good idea). Same angle as you have.

- if I put it so the corners are as flush as possible with the fenders, the spoiler is close to vertical, and there's a gap in the valance.

A friend of mine installed the cuda version, had to cut it right down the middle so it would fit both the valance and the sides.

It's nicely made though, but there will be some work to install it on the Challenger.

I just checked some pics of the Sam Posey car ( http://www.challengertaregistry.com/pho ... rfront.jpg ), and I wonder if I shouldn't just have done it the 70's way : one big sheet of aluminum and some brackets.

I also got a ducktail spoiler from Year One too, but there will be a lot of sanding and preparation before that thing gets mocked up on the car.

yes most pieces i have found dont fit at all! that is where i have had to learn how to do it my self, its alot of trial and error, the way i intend to make this fit ewll is ,i will first tape off the valence, for marking ,and also i will mix my fiberglass resin a little thick, then i will rough up the edge i am working with, so the new stuff will stick, the when i apply it to the spoiler, i will let it set a little, then press it on to the valence, to get my initial shape, then i will adjust to fit, after i am satisfied with the fit i will adjust, and smooth, then i will attach it with zeus fastners, then, i will make the side pieces,i will use the cardboard as a rough mould,cover them with wax paper so it wont stick, after that sets i will begin adjusting again,as this will be a long process(patience), of fitting, grinding, fitting, like i said i havent ever found a piece for my car that truly"bolts on",so i you plan on doing it your self plan on spending some time for trial and error, heck fiber glass is kinda forgiving cause if you take to much off you can always add to it, not like metal where you have to weld to it, and do a build up in metal an dgring metal, i have been working with plastics and acrylics for 26 years and i love itits a skill i can use for alot of things and its fun, jump in go for it you will never learn if you do not try!stay tuned! :biggrin:

yes i have the same problem, gaps,and its kinda warped,but i can remedy that, yes the posey spoiler is a sweet fab. too, but i want a little more on the sides, i wonder why they didnt do that , simalar to a camaro , or a t/a

I like the way that the curved shape of the outer edges of the spoiler almost mirrors the curve of the body sides on the car.

I think a sharp straight edge would not look as good.

I think if you curved the sides to more closely match the body curve at that level then it would be pleasing to the eye as you look along the car from the front.

I think it just needs to curve in a little tighter and you will have it.

man your reading my mind, i have now cut this proto, and yes have matched the lower body line
also i have cut it shorter,on the sides, this is exactly the input i need to make this thing right! thanks i really appreciate this! :biggrin:

But seriously, How are you going to attach the sides? I have almost no hesitation when it comes to hacking the front valance (besides, it can't be seen except if you're crawling under the spoiler), but drilling holes in the fenders?? :oops:

I might shy out of that one.

yes im not in to hacking the fender either
the valence is a different story,i can drill holes,as they can be repared, however, i might changethe thing a little after further review, i am going to the plastic store, and see if i can buy a thick piece of lexan plastic, and use some turn buckles to hold it up, cause something i discovered is that the front air dam starts working with as little as 20 mph, i found that slight pressure will cause this flimsy thing to actually fold under pressure from the air, instead of adding on to it i am currently making a new template so i can make exactly how i want it,with it being easier to make it out of card board, tack it down on the lexan and cut it out , my main reason for this also is it will fit better, and when im all done i plan on making a mould, as to then make it in carbon fiber, and yes i will be happy to make these for any one that wants one, it seems im not the only one who thinks the current units are .....well humm i just dont like this spoiler , i feel it can be made much better so stay tuned , ill be back this after noon with more info............

also i need some good cardboard so i can create a good pattern ,but im taking my time,this is one of the patience parts :sleepy:
