6 pack rumble video

hey guys,i finally figured out how to attach video's to the web and my camera.
check out this clip of my 6 pack ideling,sweet :V8: the exaust is stock with mopar resonators and mufflers. the car is running very healthy. thank you to all the guys that helped me with the rebuild of my motor, i couldnt of done it without the help of the guys on this superb forum. enjoy the video clip.

It is a pity that there is no radio station who plays this kind of music. :s023:

It both runs and looks great! :s017: It can´t get much better than that, right? :D

well like you say christer,maximum joy is a hemi but the 440 6 pack sure is close to maximum joy! :nod:

I agree with that. I love the triple holley setup. :s007: Sometimes I dream about fitting them on my 383". I guess it is just a matter of money. Six-pack equipped 383"-s are quite rare, are not they?

Btw; Is it difficult to adjust the idle on a 440-6? I have learned that all three carbs have an idle circuit, right? The idle on you car is very low and even. How many rpm´s is it running? Great ride! :nod:

christer,the idle is set at 900 rpm. which is very low but the guy that set up the tune said it was right for the motor on how the timing was set.

all i can say is that the factory 6 pack set up does take awhile to warm up after start up,about 3 to 5 minutes. but when it gets warmed up it pretty much stays there the way you here it on my video. it does not change even if i put it in nuetral at a red light.

to start the motor it is a bit tough too and does take a few turns,but i am getting used to it and getting better each time by giving the motor much more gas as i turn the key. i have run into many hemi and 6 pack guys and they all say the same thing about start up. if its the stock set up (dual points with original distributor) it is a bit of a bitch in start up.

but let me tell you,when i start it at a cruise in, i get about 30 to 40 guys around the car just stareing at the shaker bubble as it just shakes perfectly at 900 rpm's.

forgot to mention that after the car is warmed up it does start a lot quiker. usually 1 to 2 turns. :thumbsup:

christer i am not sure about this,i heard everything pretty much runs on the middle carb and the other two are mechanical?

"383 with 6 pack",i never heard of this package,was there an original set up like that?

6 packs are very tough to set up and thats why i got a pro to do it for me but when it runs right Look out,it will give the Hemi a run for its money or even beat it. :wink2:

900 is not low. The factory settings are 600rpm for a manual shift and 800 for the automatic.

900rpm is good on a car with a bit extra on the camshaft. It also helps with battery charging because the mopar alternator does not work very well at low rpms. :wink2:

Right. Usually it runs on the middle carb who is mechanical. The other two carbs are though vacuum operated.

The outer carbs have idle curcuits just to keep them filled with fresch fuel.
This is needed due to the fact that the outer carbs only are actuated on middle to full throttle (....that is, it can take quite a while between the times they are used.).

No, no original set up. Edelbrock have made an aftermarket 6-pak manifolds for the 383" though.

I thought on Six Pack setups, only the center carb had idle circuits. Whereas TriPower setups used full operating carbs on all three carbs.
I don't recall offhand though.

http://www.mopar1.us/6barreltips.html As Dave pointed out the main concern is the intake valve opening/closing points and how it relates to enigne vacum. The outboards have idle adjustment,(kinda like a four corner adjustable Holley race Carb) but are covered with the factory lead plug in the carbs baseplate. My Pro-Max kit has canted adjustments screws to allow for outboard adjustment without removing the center carb. :wink2: Mothers SixPack was ahead of it's time!! :thumbsup: :mrgreen:

My mid 70s Jensen Interceptor six pack (jensen used them way after Chrysler stopped) does not have any idle circuits in the outboard carbs.

Also I had mine converted to pure mechanical operation with accelerator pumps on the outboards.

Yep AF ratio not idle rpm. :s008:
