Combination Valve

I installed disc brakes on the front of my 70 challenger, I already had power brakes, but installed the booster and master that came with the kit. The kit also has a new combination valve, to use it I will need to redo the lines. Can I just keep the stock combination valve and use as is????

Use the stock distrubution block/warning light thing but fit an adjustable proportioning valve in the rear line.

You need an adjustable valve to get the brake balance right.

so the valve that came with the kit, or the one that is on the car (very similar) is not the only valve I need?

Also the new master has a bigger fitting hole in the rear and a smaller one in the front, just the opposite of the original. Guess I will have to cut them off, switch them, and re-flare.

okay, I think i'm an idiot sometimes. the old master had front brakes in rear, rear in front. The new master is the opposite. so I didn't need to cut lines, just switch front to back.

I guess I still need an adjustable valve for the rear line, Is this required before using or just an suggested upgarde?

Requirement as far as I am concerned because in the event of an emergancy stop you want to stop in a straight line and not spin sideways or face the opposite direction.

You need to reduce the pressure to the rear brakes enough to make the front brakes lock up just slightly before the rears.

The factory brake proportioning is ball park at best. Changes to tyre width, weight balance, going from drums to disc, etc all have an effect on braking.
