340 carburetor

Postby charliek » 07 May 2008 14:17

Hey dudes,
I am trying to put my1970 back to original. I found a carburetor but it is for an automatic and my car is a 4 sspeed. Is it possible to make the auto carb work on a manual car? If so what has to be done? Thanks so much for response.

charlie,i think you will have to plug up a few vacuum fittings in order for the auto carb to work on a 4 speed car.

i dont know which ones though. might be a matter of plug and play.

I'm not sure about this, but seem to remember the auto carb also had a special throttle extension for the kickdown lever assembly, was tuned a little leaner than the manual carb but jetting would fix it up to your application, the power valve may come in a little sooner if the vacum rating isnt right. 1/2 of running vacum@idle is the PV's # but those are easy to change as well.
