Hood Scoop Insert Painted?

Postby CraigRTSE » 21 Feb 2008 23:58

Were the hood scoop inserts painted or left in a natural metal finish? If painted, were they black or body color? Thx!

The scoop inserts were painted body color. The covers that block them off that are held in by two black oval-headed screws are a semi-gloss or satin black.

I think the block off plates in the painted inserts were left a natural colour though. I have only seen a reproduction of these. Just about every owner discarded the block off plates as soon as they took delivery of the car.

The block off plate is what I was wondering about. I've seen them natural and in black. Not sure which is correct.

Well I think they were natural. I am usually wrong about these things though.

I am sure you are right, Jack.

(Remember what Henry Ford used to say: You can have your car in any colour as long as it is black.)

It would make more sense to have them black when you think about it. The ones I have seen were natural as I said but were not original and you could see them clearly. If painted black they would look better. jack is bound to be right.
