lug wrench/jack handle

Postby gregvega » 09 Feb 2008 15:56

Where in the trunk did dodge put the lug wrench? I think I saw some pics of a bag but it was probably custom made. They didnt let it just float around did they?

Verses a space saver code. I'm not sure if there is a difference in the jack or wrench that was how it was described.

All of the cars should have the same jack and wrench? But you never know for sure when it comes to Mopars, eh? :s006: :)

Barry set me straight on the jack as I am looking for a base for mine. The 70 is a t-bar like the one in the picture . 71 and up are tube type. Why they changed only Ma Mopar knows. :s006:

That's not my car, I just.., well..., kinda borrowed the picture. :s023:

If it's not too much trouble rtse440sixpack I would like to see what the base holding down your spare tire looks like. I need one to finish up the trunk restore.

Sorry for thread hi-jacking gregvega. :s022:

Here's where I am now. Nothing to hold the spare in place.

jon what do you mean by the base, the underneath when you take the tire off or the top piece where it holds the rim down?

your photo shows what i would consider the base. let me know and i will try and help.

The jack base that sits atop the spare is what I'm lacking, along with a couple other things. I can get at bottle and the blue strap, along with the lug wrench aftermarket but no one repops the jack base. I am watching e-bay but don't have reference of exactly what to look for.

Thanks for your help rtse4406pack. :)

If I remember correctly.......I had a full size spare and the lug wrench was placed under the spare so that when you tightened the big wingnut down on the jack base, it secured the wrench between the tire and the trunk floor. Of course that was about 38 years ago..!!! :s022:

The lug wrench rides under the spare tire in a B-Body. 1970 E-Body (I will only speak to the limits of my experience) lug wrenches rode on the left trunk extension panel as shown in the photo. They are held place by the jack.

hi JON sorry it took awhile but car is sleeping under its covers. here are the photos you requested of the base bracket for the jack assembly. i am assuming mine is original but i am not sure. under the bottom part where the sticker is it is stamped in the metal with an A-B what ever that means? OOPS made a mistake on which one is top and bottom, there vise versa guys.
