dave-r wrote:I hardly saw any of the track action myself. I spent most of the three days walking around and talking to people. I am so tired right now. I think i will have to have a nap after lunch.

Same for me! I spent most of my time taking care of a friend who was racing at Pod for the first time. Bringing water when he was waiting for hours in the sun, picking up timeslips, working on the car, steering him to the burnout area, and pedalling (or walking) back to the camp fro more tinkering...

Hectic week-end!
It started real bad : when we all met on Thursday, a couple of hours before leaving, my friend called to say he had broken his engine (zero oil pressure) and was waiting for us to trailer him to the workshop. He was so depressed he didn't even want to lift the hood, and it took most of the afternoon to convince him to let us look at the car. It turned out it was the oil pump driveshaft (pretty common failure), which we replaced with the old one from his previous engine.

The rest of the week-end was great : my friend's car went from 13.6' on street tires on a good French track, to 12.5' with slicks on the best track in Europe... All that with no noise, a manual transmission, and good road manners. I hope to do as well next year with my car.

It was pretty neat to find the French Connection logo on the event T-shirt for our 10th birthday !

A lot of cars we usually see were missing, but there was even more new cars, so it was a great year.

It will take a couple of days to feel awake again. :sleepy:

You guys have some VERY nice cars over there. I especially liked the blown purple '67 Coronet and "Slime Lime" Cuda and the black '68 Charger with its kicka$$ stance and...and...and everything

Notice we welcome all makes to the event too. It maybe hosted by Mopars but we love all muscle cars.

The track was open 1pm to 6pm Friday I think, 10am to 9pm Saturday and 10am to 5pm Sunday. At times the que in the fire-up road was the full length of the track.

The track organisers need to speed up how many cars run per minute though. There was far too much track down time due to various reasons. It meant some people were waiting up to 90 mins to get a run.

No idea mate. It is spread out so much and mixed on the campsite with daily drivers, mobile homes, trailers, and tents. Must be a few hundred muscle cars. Maybe 500? Nothing like as big as the US events as you would expect but not bad. Over 100 signed up each day to go on the track I think. Maybe more.

About 2000 American vehicles of one sort or another attend one or two of the really big static shows in the UK but they are mostly crap everyday types of US made cars, trucks and vans. Not much muscle.

even 300 or so is a good number, from the pics it all looks pretty nice, as far as the mix, and quality of the cars, and alot of custom work!

i also noticed that there were 2 amx,s i think 70,s they only built less than 19,000 of those cars , of the 2 seater version, from 68 to 70, then they changed to a 4 seater in 71, those are rare cars in there own respect!

Congrats Wayne! You should also recieve an award for most persisitent and good attitutude! I would have 'cashed it in' and been under the car with bloody knuckles and fangs bared the entire time  Mick Payne's 7.9 is  Normally aspirated, Nox? Blown? Over here they allow Nox I think? I'm not very knowledgeable about the drag classes, but that seems very quick!

I saw that Wayne. You looked tired but very happy. I would have felt 'comfy' if Dave was there too, especially with that hairpiece on and a wrench in one hand and a stout Ale in the other. No Joke!
