Service Manual woes- 71 Tail Lights removal

Postby Goldenblack440 » 29 Dec 2007 7:14

71 Chal- HI All- do i have to remove the rear bumper to removal the rear tail light Assy? I have both the 71 Chall Service Manuals, and be damned if i can find where it says about removing them. There is bumper removal but not tail lights or tail panel. It all has to removed as one assy.

The Manuals are also very lacking on the horn relay- But i have posted this in electrical.

Well to answer my own Question regarding removing the bumper to get the tail lights and panel out- yes and no. Yes the bumper has to be loosened enough so it will pivot down a bit, making room to slide the section out, but it doesn't have to be removed completely. If you have the bumper over-riders- these have 2 bolts each as well- usually will be rusted in for added fun.

Soaking those bolts down with break free or wd-40 the day prior, should help.
