I recieved this today. I'll be busy in the shop for a bit. Oh, after I read the instructions first, ah, who needs em! :biggrin: I love their "motto" Knowledge IS HorsePower!(Cylinder pressure), ok Dave! :lol:

It's an Innovate Motorsports LM-1 Meter. It recieves the Data via a wide Band Bosch Oxygen sensor. It has non-volatile memory and can record for 44 minutes of running engine time and download to your computer. Or you can drive around with it hooked up and see what the engine's air/fuel ratio is. pretty cool! One must have the bungs in the collectors or Thermal probes in the exhaust tubing near the cylinder head. It comes in a complete kit for 349.00. It's pretty simple really Pat. The O2 sensor is nothing more than a chemical battery. It mixes with the oxygen present in the exhaust stream then converts an electrical charge from that procedure usually no more than .5 volts. The material itself is Cubic Zirconia, remember when cheap gaudy jewelry in the 1970's was advertised on T.V. made from "Zirconia" a fancy term to get people to buy their products because it sounded Hi-Tech :biggrin: Same stuff! I'll report my findings, maybe you guys can help me upload the data on a link when I complete the testing. :thumbsup:

Well, in between working on other people's vehicles and trying to get my R/T up on Jack Stands, I cant fit at all under the car, so up it's gotta go! I must hook up the sensor to power first then calibrate it to ambient air to give it a 'baseline oxygen" setting. Also I tested the output of the cigarette lighter adaptor with my DVOM to ensure at least 9-12 volts to power the sensor itself because without power the sensor will fail when exposed to exhaust gas. Here is where it's going into. Need a bunghole! :s022: Any Bunghole will do, pick one! :s013:

Yep. Just been watching it. Ferrari one, two.

L.H. Had engine/trans problems which dropped him to 18th place. He came up the field and made up a lot of places but some strange decisions by his team (and some good performances by other drivers) kept him out of the points he needed.

So Alonso finishes second in the championship and Hamilton third.

Incredible. Lewis has to be pissed although he only had a 6 point "spread". I wonder if Kimi dominated from the start? Bet the first few laps were intense. Too bad about Lewis having drivetrain problems, bet they had the engines on, dial to kill! :lol:

i have an lm1 and haven tried it on my car but i did a biddies car and it worked great , all i need is a cig lighter plug in my car and i can try it, my cig lighter has long been since discarded for some thing i dont remember , but i have the bung and wireing so stay tuned, however it is snowing here today and it wil be a while

I'm going to have to wait until tommorow. The bung has been removed and I put a carefully applied dab of anti-seize on the bung plug once I'm done testing. It was very difficult to remove. The car is up on stands and is ready for testing. :thumbsup: I'll post the results as soon as I recieve them! :s016:

Congrats to Kimi Raikonnen and Team Ferrari for that unbelievable race and season! OK, Here are my results from Testing with the LM-1 Meter. The timing is 36 degrees at 2800,(all in, total), no vac. advance utilized due to the Pro-Max coversion plates used in the Holley's instead of a fixed metering plate. I checked with my DVOM for 12 volts to the cigarette lighter adaptor, running the Bosch Wide Band without power to the sensor and the engine running will damage it. Ambient= 63 degrees Far. raining hard, 12.9-13.1 at 2000 RPM's for 5 minutes. Then I shut it down. Primary Jets are Holley 67 in the center carb, 84 in the outboards. Since I didnt have the car under load the only carb that was being meaured was the center. I need to get it out on the road for a high speed blast! :nod:

I just thought of something I did wrong. I should have warmed the engine and then tested. Since I dont use a choke because there is NO heat crossover in the eddies heads the choke well and thermostatic spring would be pointless/useless anyways. The fuel wasnt in suspension as it would be warmed up hence a leaner condition would be present. Damin t!! :biggrin: It was informative and fun anyways, I love this meter! :thumbsup:

Dave, whats going on with the stewards in F-1? They are checking the fuel from Kimi's car, it didn't meet the sample taken before the race! Now they are going to disqualify him? The same thing happened to Michael Schumacher in Brazil in 1995. Oh Oh!! :frown:

I think it is the BMW and Williams cars. Their fuel was 10 degrees below ambiant.

I seriously doubt anything will come of it. Lewis only needs one point to win the Championship so if any of the cars ahead of him were disqualified he would be the Champ.

Not going to happen though.

OK cool, I was concerned they where going to start disqualifying some of the drivers. So it's official, Kimi is World Champ I assume! :mrgreen:

Actually, he's a PR pro. He and his agents managed to build a "good guy" image for the media right from the start... Just look what happened when his teammate Alonso passed him last sunday : he was so furious he made two big mistakes (actually, one big and one huge) trying to overtake him again (and lost several places in the process - that was before the shifting problem). He has the same kind of temper Ayrton Senna had (or Tony Stewart has, in another sport), he just never shows it in front of a camera. He even disobeys team orders to let Alonso pass him during qualifications.
He makes a few mistakes sometimes (saying during an interview that Alonso tried to fishtail him during the Belgium GP when he in fact tried to overtake him at the first turn by braking too late), but the early PR work at the beginning of the season was done well.

This phony "good guy" image will be worth hundreds of millions more when he starts endorsing products...

With the kind of media attention he brought to F1, I think he will make much more money than Schumacher did before he retires.

As far as being a man of honor, can you really imagine any pilot saying anything else in his position?

Well I think the kid is alright.
I remember him being on the TV when he was a little kid racing the Karts.
He always comes across as polite and level headed. He does not have to do that. Some of the other drivers act like cry babies or spoilt brats half the time and get away with it.

Sure he is an aggressive driver on the track. That is why he wins. You watch karting and the lower Formulas and they are all like that at first when they are very young. But Lewis seems to have kept that attacking edge. It shows some immaturity. But he is still very young and shows much more maturity than many of the other drivers in his attitude off the track.

Hamilton Senior comes over quite well too.

ANY man that can do what half those guys have accomplished is OK with me. I root for the manufacturers anyways. I really dont understand the loyalty a fan has with the driver. I have always 'rooted' for the Team. For my overseas friends that support a driver due to nationality, well, I'll just stay outta that one. :nod:(Actually I would rather meet the engineers, designers, engine driveline,electronics ect...You get the idea dont you? The mechanical aspects are what really interests me). :thumbsup:

Those of us that watched the "Top Gear" TV show on BBC2 last night were left in no doubt that this young man Hamilton is extremely talented during their regular "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" feature.

The track was not only wet but a previous car had sprayed diff oil all over it.
Did that slow him down?

Must admit to being a fence- sitter as far as Lewis Hamilton's driving ability, until I saw Top Gear last night. That's a real- world scenario we can all relate to.

Not only did he set a stunning time for the track conditions, he did it in a very relaxed and controlled manner. So I'm convinced. :D He has an inate natural driving ability I could only dream of. Seems like a polite, pleasent bloke too.

He's got awesome driving skills, that's for sure.

And the fact that I never liked Shumacher doesn't mean he drives like my mom either!
